Roca Bruja, the park
A beach break around a rock in Santa Rosa National Park, northern Guanacaste. Witch's Rock is Roca Bruja, a park wave, howlers in the trees, turtles in season. You get there by boat or a rough road. The town is not next to the peak.
When.
November to April
Pacific swell in the northern winter. The rock is the landmark, not a reef pass.
Worth knowing.
- 1. This is a park. You pay, you leave it as you found it, you do not camp where they say no.
- 2. Boat from Playas del Coco is the common way. The road is a plan, not a shortcut.
- 3. Ollie's Point is up the coast, a different wave, a different day.
- 4. Northern winter is the window. The beach can close out. Watch a set from the sand.
